now what shall I play around with?

So I could save some pictures and see how they come out if I do a blog on Lake Geneva. Starting with this.

This is the house at Geneva Lake, WI, known as Stone Manor. It was built by Otto Young, a German immigrant who became one of the leaders of Chicago merchandising as the head of the Fair Store on State Street.  As it stands now, the house has been considerably altered to make it into apartments. It also has housed restaurants, a night club, a school and various other enterprises. Tomu eye, it has always been the most ostentatious house on this lake lined with mansions of the 19th c. rich. This pictures is courtesy of a guy in Racine. His website is.

Another picture that I have admired since childhood is the Anders Zorn portrait of Bertha Honore Palmer, Queen of Chicago Society. Here is a partial view of the picture, which was on display at the Chicago Historical Society Museum last November in an exhibition of Mrs. Palmer's magnificent clothing and jewels.
I'll have to put that in later.'
